Guided Leadership: The Elected Board of Directors and Executive Leadership

A Board of Directors oversees all the financial and operational decisions of the Missouri EMS Funeral Team. Our Board members are volunteers and most members are licensed EMTs or paramedics.

Our Executive Leadership Team oversees the daily operations of the Missouri EMS Funeral Team. The Team is led by Executive Director George Wright and Deputy Executive Director Ed Angle.

Our Board of Directors

David Hoover | President

David worked as an EMT and paramedic for more than 40 years and served as a field paramedic for CoxHealth Emergency Medical Services.

Mike Dawson | Vice President

Mike retired following 43 years of service in EMS. After high school, Mike worked on ranches as a cowboy/herdsman along with working with Livestock Auctions prior to breaking into Volunteer Fire and EMS in 1979 as Advanced First Aid, then 1980 EMT-B, Paramedic in 1985. Worked EMS in Cass and Bates County 1979-1987. 

 

In 1987, he moved to CoxHealth in Springfield, MO, as a Paramedic in the Mobile Cardiac Care Unit. He continued to work as a Paramedic Manager and then EMS Operations Manager until his retirement in 2021. During his years in EMS, Mike served 33 years with “THINK FIRST,” educating mostly 7-12 grades on “Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Prevention.

 

Mike joined the MO EMS Funeral Team, Board of Directors 2015 to help provide support to the hard-working Rank and File of the Honor Guard. He currently serves as Vice President but also was a past President.

 

Mike resides in Cass County and follows his grandkids’ activities and volunteers at Cass Medical Center in Harrisonville, MO.

Joe Raymann | Secretary

Joe recently retired from EMS and joined the board to continue his service to the EMS community.  Joe previously worked for Salt River, Macon County, and Linn County Ambulance districts.  As a former veteran, serving others has been a part of Joe’s life for over 45 years.  He and his wife Lisa own JLR Transportation Inc. and work as owner-operators hauling nitrous oxide in Canada and the eastern United States.

Lisa Raymann | Treasurer

Lisa has been a CPA for over 30 years and uses that experience as Treasurer on the board for the funeral team.  She retired from EMS in 2023 after spending 8 years as an EMT in Macon County.  She was an active member of the EMS Funeral Team for 5 years and joined the board as Treasurer after her retirement from EMS so she could stay active and provide additional support to the team.  Lisa was also Member of the year in 2021.  Her passion for helping others is the background for volunteering and utilizing her experience on the board. She and her husband Joe own JLR Transportation Inc. and work as owner-operators hauling nitrous oxide in Canada and the eastern United States.

Charles Anderson | Board Member

Charles Anderson began his EMS career in 1985 as an EMT with St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City and Callaway County Ambulance District. In 1988, he advanced to paramedic, then quickly moved up the ranks to Shift Supervisor in 1989. By 1992, Charles was appointed EMS Director, a role he continues to hold with dedication. Alongside his EMS career, Charles served as a police officer with the Auxvasse Police Department and as a reserve deputy with the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office from 1988 until December 31, 2024. Additionally, he is a licensed Realtor with Century 21 McDaniel Realty in Fulton, Missouri, bringing his commitment to service to the local real estate market. Charles serves as a member of our Board of Directors.

Rande McCrary | Board Member

Rande started his EMS career in the early 1970’s. Before that, he responded with some of the funeral homes in the area before the ambulance districts took shape. He has served with several ambulance districts before retiring from active EMS service in 2019. Rande has served as a director for the Missouri EMS Funeral team for over 10 years.

Rande worked for the Bureau of EMS Jefferson City starting in 1989 and served for 14 years. He has held several executive positions for the Missouri Emergency Medical Service Association, where he still serves as a director today. Rande also serves as a director for the National EMS Memorial Service. This organization every year provides a “Weekend of Honor” for those EMS providers that give the ultimate sacrifice: their lives in the line of duty.

Jane Jud-Almstedt | Board Member

Jane began her EMS service as a State EMT in October 1973 and received her National EMT in January1974. She later became a substitute public school  teacher (26 years) and served as a full-time teacher (9 years) prior to retiring after a total of 35 years in education. She has maintained first aid and CPR for several decades.  

 

Jane joined the EMS Funeral Team in February 2017 and was appointed as a Chaplain in April 2017 and Region 5 Commander in October of 2017. She remained in those positions until her retirement in July of 2024.  She joined the Board in October 2024.

 

Jane has been a member of the Federation of Fire Chaplains, Missouri Chaplains' Core and the Fire Chaplains of Jefferson County since March 2018, after the head Chaplain from her department encouraged her as she had been in different forms of  ministry for many, many decades. She is currently active with CERT and one of the Chaplains with Boles FPD in Labadie, MO.

Chris Boggus | Board Member

Chris serves as the Director for Macon County EMS. He started his career in EMS in 2013 under one of the best mentors, Tom Yates. Chris worked at Macon EMS for several years until he left to work for Pettis County Ambulance District and Lewis County Ambulance District. He returned to Macon EMS in 2023 and serves as the Ambulance Director.

Executive Leadership and Regional Contacts for the MO EMS Funeral Response Team

George Wright | Executive Director

Beginning as a firefighter in 1981, George has served as a police officer and a reserve deputy. He has been involved in EMS since 1983. Retiring in May 2024, his passion has been honoring our fallen public safety and EMS brothers and sisters. George started with the fire funeral team in 2007 and joined the EMS funeral team in January 2010. He now serves as the Executive Director for the team.

Ed Angle | Deputy Executive Director

Paul “Ed” Angle lives in Albany in  Northwest Missouri. He was a EMT at Grandriver Ambulance for 33 years before he retired. Ed also was a fireman for Albany Fire Dept. for 40 years and was a deputy sharing for Gentry County Sheriff Dept. for almost 19 years. He received his pilot’s license when he was 18 years old and is still flying today in the Missouri Honor Guard. Ed started with the funeral team in 2010 (when it was founded). He enjoys all the members and the purpose that the team stands for. Ed served in the following offices for the team: Region 1 Commander, Deputy State Commander, State Commander, and now serves as Deputy Executive Director.

David Bryant | State Commander North

David started his career as a First Responder in 1995. David went on to get his EMT license in 1997 and worked in EMS until 2023 when he retired. He is a Lieutenant for Shelbina Fire Department, and he started on the Funeral Team in early 2010. He worked his way through the Command Staff and now serves as the State Commander North. David also serves on the fire funeral team.

Derrick began his career in EMS in 1998 as an EMT. He became a paramedic in 2001 and worked as a firefighter/medic for several years. Derrick now works full time EMS for St. Francois County Ambulance District. He is a Field Training Officer (FTO) and helps teach future EMS providers. Starting with the Honor Guard in 2015, he served as Assistant Co-commander of Region 8 and now serves as a Deputy State Commander.
